Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI)?
Ayres Sensory Integration® is a research-informed framework developed by Dr A. Jean Ayres. It explains how the brain processes sensory information and how this influences learning, behaviour, and participation. ASI provides therapists with a structured approach to assessment and intervention.
What is the CASI Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration?
The Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration (CASI) is an advanced professional training program designed to develop competence in ASI theory, assessment, and intervention. It combines structured online learning with interactive and practical components to support confident clinical application.
Who is eligible to enrol?
Eligibility depends on the module. Some foundational components may be suitable for a broader audience, while clinical modules are limited to qualified occupational therapists. Certain modules require completion of earlier coursework.
What assessment tools are included in the training?
The program includes instruction in comprehensive sensory integration assessment, which may involve tools such as the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) and other standardised sensory processing measures, taught within the ASI framework.
Does completing CASI provide separate SIPT or EASI certification?
No. Completion results in a CASI certificate. It does not provide standalone certification for specific assessment tools, but it does include training in their appropriate and ethical use within ASI practice.
What is required to achieve the full CASI certificate?
Participants must complete all required modules and associated coursework, including theoretical learning and practical components, to meet certificate requirements.
How long do I have to complete the program?
The program is typically designed to be completed within a set timeframe (often around 12 months), depending on enrolment structure and module scheduling.
Do the modules need to be completed in sequence?
Yes. The curriculum is intentionally structured so foundational knowledge supports advanced clinical reasoning and intervention skills. Following the recommended sequence ensures the best learning outcomes.
Can previous sensory integration training count toward CASI?
Previous training may be reviewed on an individual basis to determine alignment with CASI standards. Approval of prior learning is considered case by case.
Are continuing professional development (CPD) hours included?
Yes. Each module includes designated learning hours that may contribute toward professional development requirements, subject to your professional body’s guidelines.
