Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of an integrated treatment approach?

At Kickstart Kids Therapy, many children see both an occupational therapist and a speech pathologist for therapy as difficulty with sensory processing can impact a range of skills.

With the occupational therapist and speech pathologist working closely together, communication between therapists is maximised. Therapists are able to support each other’s interventions and share strategies for developing skills or managing behaviour. Goals can be developed collaboratively with parents.

What rebates are available for services?

Your child may be eligible to access Medicare programs, including the Enhanced Primary Care Plan, Better Access to Mental Health and Helping Children with Autism programs. You can find out more about these programs through the Medicare website.

If you have private health cover for OT or Speech Pathology then please bring your card with you and we may be able to process your refund at the clinic.

Are you approved to provide NDIS Services?

Yes, we are approved to provide services to eligible children under this government scheme.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

You do not need a referral from your doctor to access services. Simply call and make an appointment to discuss your concerns.

How many therapy sessions do you usually recommend?

This depends on many factors and your therapist will discuss the options with you.

Will you consult with my child’s preschool or school?

Communicating with your child’s teacher is important. Where possible, preschool and school observations and meetings are part of the therapy service.
